British Wool Board visit
The Guild spend a fascinating morning at the Wool Board depot in Brecon learning about the journey that fleeces take from the farmer to eventual sale at the raw wool market in Bradford. Brecon is one of two depots in Wales and there are others in England, but the two in Wales account for huge proportion of all the fleeces they deal with. We even came away with some great fleeces and the promise of more if we call again.

Weaving Focus, Kumihimo Braiding
Today was a weaving focus day at High Cross. Dunja gave a fabulous presentation on Kumihimo braiding that was so informative with members asking lots of questions. This was followed by a show and tell - Marilyn had a lovely salmon coloured shawl, Wendy had a cushion done on a peg loom, Danielle showed her amazing jacket and Huw displayed a Mayan runner he had received as a present. Laura Thomas Design & Colour, 2026
All was quiet! We were immersed in our own world of colour, following Laura Thomas’ gentle instruction to notice what attracts (or repels) us, and to keep asking ‘why?’ Laura Thomas is a professional weaver and educator; it was a fantastic workshop!
