On Saturday 3rd October 2026, four members joined the AGM of the Chepstow Archaeological Society to demonstrate 'Fleece to Fabric' showing all the stages involved; Drop Spindle or Long Suspension Spinning. The Society have unearthed mediaeval Whorl Spindles at various excavations and we were able to demonstrate their use. A great turn-out for an informative and enjoyable day for spinners, old and new, led by Sarah Stacey. We spent the morning learning about the maintenance of different wheels and the tools and equipment to replace work parts and keep our wheels running smoothly and almost all of them quietly! On 21st July Greenmeadow Community Farm welcomed a very special visitor - HRH Princess Anne. She met staff and volunteers to learn how the farm teaches children about farming and food, animals and sustainability.
